Thane is a city in the Indian state of Maharashtra and is a part of the Mumbai Metropolitan Region. It is surrounded by the Yeoor Hills on the west and the Thane Creek on the east. Thane is also known as the City of Lakes as it has around 30 lakes within its limits. The city is well-connected to other parts of Mumbai via the Eastern Express Highway and the Central line of Mumbai Suburban Railway. Thane has many nearby hospitals, schools, colleges, malls, markets, parks, entertainment places and employment hubs. It is known for its cultural and entertainment offerings, with Gadkari Rangayatan being a popular theatre.
